Humpus Intermoda Turns to Loss in First Quarter - The Indonesia Today

Shipping company PT Humpuss Intermoda Transportasi (HITS) Tbk, controlled by Tommy Soeharto, posted net loss of Rp5.69 billion in the first quarter of 2011, compared to net profit of Rp13.42 billion in the same period of last year.

It said the loss was mainly caused by other expenses which totaled Rp764.32 million. The company booked other income of Rp42.67 billion in the first quarter of 2010.

Foreign exchange gain dropped significantly to Rp3.28 billion from Rp43.37 billion a previous year while interest expenses jumped to Rp9.61 billion from Rp325.1 million a year earlier.

Meanwhile, revenue increased to Rp141.72 billion while cost of good sold was relatively flat at Rp118.14 billion. The company booked gross profit of Rp23.59 billion and operating loss of Rp1.57 billion.

As of March 2011, its assets totaled Rp1.66 trillion while liability amounted Rp1.05 trillion.
