Spanish GDP Growth Slows In Q2: Bank Of Spain - RTT News

The Spanish economy grew only 0.2 percent in the second quarter, estimates published by the Bank of Spain showed Friday. The second quarter growth was slightly weaker than the 0.3 percent expansion seen in the first quarter.

On a yearly basis, the growth rate eased to 0.7 percent from 0.8 percent in the first quarter. According to Bank of Spain, net exports underpinned the growth, while domestic demand declined further.

Ben May, an economist at Capital Economics said the economy is expected to grow by a below consensus 0.5 percent this year and to stagnate in 2012.
