Astra to Pay Final Dividend of Rp4.57 Trillion - The Indonesia Today

PT Astra International Tbk (ASII), the nation's largest auto retailer, will pay final dividend of Rp4.57 trillion, or Rp1,130 per share, for 2010 profit.

The final dividend will be paid in June 16, 2011. The company had paid interim dividend of Rp470 per share in November 15, 2010, making dividend payment to total Rp6.47 trillion, or 45% of 2010 net profit (Rp14.36 trillion).

Prijono Sugiarto, Astra's president director, said the company expects a better earning this year though its car sales is predicted to decline 15-20% in the second quarter impacted by supply problem after the wake of Japan disaster.

Toyota Motor Corp, the principal of Astra, had announced to cut its car production by up to 50% from April 25 until June 4, 2011.

Toyota leads the domestic car market with holding 38% market share. As of March 2011, Toyota car sold totaled 85,000 units. Domestic car sales reached 225,000 units, grew 30% from the first quarter of 2010.

Prijono said the expected drop in car sales will be compensated by other business segments such as heavy equipment, logistic, agribusiness, and motorcycle which have shown a positive earning growth.

Automotive business, consisting of car, motorcycle, and spare part, contributes 50% of total earning. The rest is contributed by other business such as heavyequipment, Mining, palm oil, infrastructure and financial.
