PT Bank Mandiri Tbk (BMRI), the largest bank in Indonesia by assets, targets to book transaction of trade finance of US$13.29 billion this year, increased 30% compared to US$10.23 billion last year.

Sukoriyanto Saputro, BMRI's corporate secretary, said in a press statement today that the expected growth of trade finance transaction for this year will be supported by BMRI's current capability in maintaining a solid trade and remittance transaction system.

Hong Kong-based The Asian Banker has awarded Bank Mandiri as the Best Domestic Bank for Trade Finance and the Leading Counterparty Bank for Indonesia in 2011. The Asian Banker is a leading provider of strategic intelligence on the financial services industry, established since 1996.

BMRI recorded net profit of Rp9.2 trillion last year, surged 28.8% from 2009 despite a relatively small growth of interest income. It reported interest income of Rp30.4 trillion last year, inched up 1.9% from 2009. The bank's net interest income, however, increased 13.9% to Rp18.1 trillion.
