Bloomberg Indonesia Stocks: Astra International, Semen Gresik, Timah

Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Indonesian trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses, and prices are as of the 4 p.m. close in Jakarta.

The Jakarta Composite index gained 87.85 points, or 2.6 percent, to 3,433.91, advancing for the first time in five days.

PT Astra International (ASII IJ), Indonesia’s largest automotive retailer, gained 5.1 percent to 49,200 rupiah and PT Astra Agro Lestari (AALI IJ), its palm oil unit, rallied 7.5 percent to 22,850 rupiah, ending a seven-day loss. BNP Paribas’s Jakarta-based analyst Elvira Tjandrawinata recommended investors buy the two stocks, saying they are among those where “value is starting to emerge.”

PT Semen Gresik (SMGR IJ), Indonesia’s biggest cement maker, advanced 4.6 percent to 8,000 rupiah. Semen Gresik expects net income to rise as much as 15 percent this year to 4 trillion rupiah ($442 million) as the completion of two cement plants will boost production, Bisnis Indonesia reported, citing Dwi Soetjipto, president director at the company. Soetjipto couldn’t be reached when called at his office in Gresik, East Java.

PT Timah (TINS IJ), Indonesia’s biggest tin producer, rose 3 percent to 2,600 rupiah. Tin futures climbed to a record in London yesterday, rising 1.3 percent to $28,095 a metric ton.
