NJA Economic Releases & Events: The week that was and will be - Credit Suisse

Week of 27 June…
· China June PMI disappointed again falling 1.1 points to 50.9, indicating that industrial production will grow at a slower rate.
· May trade data for Hong Kong and Indonesia both surprised on the upside, while June trade data for Korea was lower than expected. May industrial production for Thailand and Korea surprised markets on the upside.
· On the inflation front, June CPI figures for Indonesia and Korea surprised markets on the upside, albeit only marginally so in the case of Indonesia.
· Taiwan’s central bank raised the rediscount rate by 12.5bps, as widely anticipated.

…and 4 July
· We expect to see a 25bps increase in the policy rate and 1pp hike in the SRR from Bank Negara Malaysia next Thursday
· June inflation data for the Philippines and Taiwan will be out and should remain fairly static.
· May trade numbers for Malaysia are released next week, along with June trade data for China and Taiwan.
· Also watch out for HK May retail sales and Singapore’s June PMI.
