BUMA to Write-Off 50% of Disputed Fuel Costs With Berau Coal - The Indonesia Today

PT Bukit Makmur Mandiri Utama (BUMA) Tbk, a subsidiary of Delta Dunia Makmur (DOID), and PT Berau Coal, a subsidiary of Berau Coal Energy (BRAU) have signed settlement agreement regarding dispute over fuel costs.

BUMA is mining contractor for Berau Coal. The "difference of opinion" happened before the current shareholders entering BUMA and Berau in 2009. DOID acquired BUMA from Lensa family, while Bukit Mutiara acquired Berau Coal from Risjad family.

According to the settlement agreement, total fuel costs disputed were US$24.355 million and Rp161.36 billion. Under the agreement, Berau Coal will pay to BUMA 50% of the amounts in 36 installments.

BUMA, meanwhile, subject to compliance to existing regulations, including Bapepam Regulation No IX.E.2 about material transaction and change of main business activities, will write-off the balance of 50%. That means total write-off consideration is US$12.17 million and Rp80.68 billion or a combined Rp186 billion.
