Telkom 1Q net profit increases 1.5% - Insider Stories

Indonesia's largest cellular operator PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk (Telkom) reported a slight increase of 1.5% in net profit for the first quarter of this year as net other charges narrowed.

The operator posted Rp2.83 trillion in 1Q 2011 from Rp2.79 trillion in 1Q 2010. Telkom's net other charges narrowed 67.35% to Rp59.75 billion from Rp183.07 billion.

However, the company booked Rp5.19 trillion operating profit, a 2.4% decrease from Rp5.32 trillion on higher operating expenses which increased 4.3%.
Operating revenue increased 2.1% to Rp16.71 trillion from Rp16.36 trillion.
The main contributors for the revenue increase were data, internet, and services which increased to Rp688 billion and cellular business.

Telkom recorded 99.36 million cellular subscribers, reflecting a 21.3% increase from 81.95 million subscribers.
But, cellular's average revenue per user dropped 14% to Rp37,000 per month from Rp43,000.
