Asian stock markets opened substantially lower this morning on concerns about widespread tension in Egypt, the most populous nation in Middle East.
Nikkei 225 drops 1.59% and KOSPI composite index falls 1.34% this morning, while All Ordinaries slips 0.97%. Straits Times and Bursa Malaysia also opened lower by 1.17% and 0.96% respectively.
Last Friday, Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) closed substantially lower by 1.39%, while Nasdaq composite slashed 2.48%. European markets also closed lower, led by CAC 40 (-1.41%) and FTSE 100 (-1.4%).
Crude oil advanced further by 1.15% in Asian trading to US$90.37 per barrel. Mining stocks dropped substantially in Sydney this morning, with Rio Tinto and Macarthur slip 2.12% and 2.19%, while BHP Billiton down 1.52%. Minara slashes 2.69%, while Gloucester down 1.71%.
