Toyota announced to expand its Indonesian plant to 140,000 units a year by early 2013, from 100,000 currently - CLSA

· Total investment is Rp1.7tn (US$195m). Separately, Toyota said it plans to launch new model this year.
· This is good news as Toyota plant in Indonesia is running at tight capacity. With overtime, the new capacity of 140,000 can be increased to 180,000 units pa. The plant produces 107,000 units last year.
· On Astra's expansion plan, its Astra Daihatsu plant was ground broke recently, and within 10 months, capacity will be increased to 400,000 by end of 2012. Capacity this year is 286,000, which was increased by 40% from last year. Astra Daihatsu currently also produces some Toyota's brands as well as Daihatsu's brands.
· Low penetration of car in Indonesia (4%) currently means plenty of growth for auto purchases in the future, as GDP/capita rises. Indonesia has one of the highest % growth in income/capita vs its regional peers.
