Timah to Build Tin Chemical Plant in Bangka Belitung The Indonesia Today

World's second largest tin miner PT Timah Tbk (TINS) plans to build tin chemical plant in Bangka Belitung, with first stage contruction costing Rp100 billion, Bisnis Indonesia reported this morning.
Wachid Usman, Timah's president director, said the construction of the plant is scheduled for this year end or early 2012.

He said tin chemical plant in Bangka Belitung will be the second plant. The first chemical tin plant had been built in Cilegon, Banten Province.

"The capacity of tin chemical plant in Bangka Belitung will be far big rather than Cilegon's plant," Wachid said, noting Timah wants to expand its downstream business.

Currently, Cilegon's plant has capacity of 6,000 tons of tin chemical per year which is mainly exported to buyers in Japan and South Korea. Wachid said Cilegon's plant capacity will be increased to 10,000 tons by this year end.

For 2010 performance, Timah expects to book revenue of Rp6.96 trillion, assuming the average tin price stood at US$19,000 per ton and sales volume reached 40,000 tons of tin. For this year, Timah targets to maintain sales volume but expects average tin price to increase to US$23,000 per ton.
